Apply for Initial Certification Examination in General Pediatrics.
Complete and submit the application.
After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email, as well as a remittance receipt.
The ABP’s decision concerning the acceptance of your application will be posted on your ABP Portfolio in late July 2023.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to read the eligibility and application requirements on the ABP website, and to meet all ABP deadlines.
Medical License
Applicants must ensure that the ABP receives, by Oct. 2, 2023, a copy of a valid, current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States or Canada. If an applicant does not meet the Oct. 2, 2023, licensure deadline, the application will be disapproved and the examination fee will be refunded. Neither the processing or evaluation fee nor the late fee are refundable. Waivers of the license requirement will not be granted. Read the ABP Licensure Policy (PDF).
Foreign Documentation
First-time registrants who graduated from a medical school outside the United States or Canada must submit a copy of the medical school diploma, with translation if necessary, and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate (or acceptable substitution) by June 30, 2023.
Satisfactorily complete all contracted residency training before October 1, 2020.
Complete the training required for certification within the previous 7 years. If the required training was not completed within the previous 7 years, at least 6 months of supervised practice in an accredited training program in general pediatrics must be completed to regain eligibility.
